BJC Primary Grading - White Belt with Brown Tabs

Your breakfalls are checked at all levels. These are the first thing you are taught. This list serves as a reminder only.

Breakfalls

Hidari Zempo Kaiten Ukemi (Left side rolling breakfall)
Migi Yoko Ukemi (Right side breakfall)
Hidari Yoko Ukemi (Left side breakfall)
Migi Zempo Kaiten Ukemi (Right side rolling breakfall)
Mae Ukemi (Front breakfall)
Ushiro Ukemi (Back breakfall)

White Belt 3 Blue Tabs to 1 Brown Tab (normally not less than 9 years old)

Core Requirements

Etiquette & Safety

Your examiner will ask you to demonstrate the following to ensure you know the core requirements for Judo.
Bow, take a sleeve/lapel grip, posture, how to walk with partner
Kneeling, standing bows, etiquette

Questions & Japanese Terms

These are not compulsary and are used at the discretion of the Examiner. You should know them regardless.

Students zori are left neatly side by side at the edge of the mat
Japanese Terms
Ippon - A Score or Win by 10 points

Standing - Demonstrate

Sasae Tsuri Komi Ashi (propping drawing ankle throw)

Groundwork - Demonstrate

Kuzure Kami Shiho Gatame (broken upper four quarters), escape into Kami Shiho Gatame (upper four quarters)

Randori

Minimum of 2 'throw for throw' style randori practices.

White Belt 1 Brown Tab to 2 Brown Tabs (normally not less than 9 years old)

De Ashi Barai, Uke avoids, Tori changes attack to Sasae Tsuri Komi Ashi

Groundwork - Demonstrate

Turn-over from press-up position, breakfall, move into Kesa Gatame (scarf hold), escape into Kuzure Kesa Gatame (broken scarf hold), escape onto stomach and rise into 'all fours' (crouching position), turn over into Yoko Shiho Gatame (side four quarters), escape to Kuzure Kami Shiho Gatame (broken upper four quarters hold), escape to Kami Shiho Gatame (upper four quarters hold) and escape

Randori

Minimum of 2 'throw for throw' style randori practices.
